The McCall Winter Carnival is one of the most magical events Idaho has to offer. It has all the winter charm and is truly a winter wonderland. A signature part of the carnival are the snow sculptures of course! Entries for this year's sculpture competition are now officially being accepted.
According to the Visit McCall website, "artists from all over the West will come to McCall to participate in the Annual Idaho Snow Sculpting Championship." Last year Payette Lakes Ski Patrol at Brundage Mountain Resort 2020 was awarded first place. The theme for this year is "Winter Wanderlust."
The competition is open for both individuals and businesses to enter. There will be a  first, second, and third place winner for employee-built sculptures as well as individual-built sculptures. Fourth through tenth place can go to either businesses or individuals. All places will be awarded cash prizes with first place winners receiving $2,000. Judging will be based on several factors including visual Impact, artistic merit, execution, originality, detail/technique/craftsmanship, difficulty and overall impression.
McCall wrote on their Facebook page that their goal "is to see more sculptures than ever for 2021." If you are in need of a location for a sculpture, you can complete the form with your ideas and carnival organizers will assist you in finding a location to build.
The deadline to enter to be included on the official sculpture map is January 1st! Complete the entry form at https://visitmccall.org/events/winter-carnival/sculptures/ or email MWC@TheGoAgency.com with any questions.
2021's McCall Winter Carnival will run from January 29th through February 7th.
