Marsing High School Named Mike & Nicole’s Everyday Hero(es)
I received an email last week from someone from Marsing High School that moved me so much that I had tears in my eyes.
We were told that last year, Marsing Student Council decided to institute Cause Week, thanks to inspiration from a similar program at Caldwell High School. Each year, they choose charities and organizations that are meaningful to them personally, or just simply interested in helping out. Then, at the beginning of the school year, a committee sits down and selects the charities. This year, they chose:
- Gathering socks for the Women's and Children's Homeless Shelter in Nampa (101 pairs)
- Marsing Volunteer Emergency Services and Fire Department
- Susan G. Komen Boise Race for the Cure
- Mix 106/Mike & Nicole's Christmas Elves!!!!
I couldn't believe it! The staff and students chose to help our Mike & Nicole's Christmas Elves! Each year, we collect toy donations to hand deliver (dressed as elves!) to the kids who will be stuck at St. Luke's Children's Hospital for Christmas. These are kids that won't go to bed in their own room in their own house on Christmas Eve. They won't be putting out milk and cookies for Santa, and carrots for his reindeer, on their kitchen tables before they scurry off to bed and try so hard to fall asleep so Santa can come.
Last year, Mike and I filmed our shopping spree at Target as we used the cash that was donated to buy toys to deliver to the kids at St. Luke's. (See Video HERE)
This year, because of the generous donation from the staff and students at Marsing High School, we are happy to announce that we will have an extra $196.51 to buy toys for Mike & Nicole's Christmas Elves! THANK YOU!!
Mike and I filmed a video for the students to watch during their assembly, telling them how much it means to us.
Here are a few photos from the assembly as they watched our video.
