Have you recently lost your dog? It can be a scary thing for both owner and pet when this happens. They may be safe and sound at the West Valley Humane Society. On Tuesday, the West Valley Humane Society reported a total of 23 dogs brought into the shelters as strays.

An announcement was posted on their Facebook page. If you are missing your pup in Canyon County please make sure you check out the shelter's lost and found page to see if your pet has arrived as a stray. There is a verification process to make sure that lost pets are returned to their rightful owners.

Stray dogs are held at WVHS for 5 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. After that, if the dog is not claimed it will be evaluated for adoption. All strays are listed on WVHS's website along with their picture. If you're missing one of these pets, be sure to contact the shelter:

The West Valley Humane Society also offered some additional tips on what to do when a pet goes missing. FindingRover.com is a good place to file a lost pet report. It's also a good idea to post your pet as lost on all social sites that can help reunite with your pet such as Facebook lost and found pet groups, the Nextdoor app, Craigslist etc. Also, talk to your neighbors and hang flyers in your neighborhood.
