Make Sure to Check Your Bank Account This Holiday Season in Idaho
Christmas has passed, but the holiday season continues. Many will continue to take off work, enjoy the last few days of 2025, and continue to take advantage of year-end sales in stores. While making it through Christmas may seem like a time to relax and the stress should be gone, you may not want to get too excited. After all the shopping you did this holiday season, you may want to check your bank account and make sure there aren't any purchases that you didn't make that snuck through.
Credit Card Fraud in Idaho
With all the websites and stores that people go to through the holidays, your credit card and debit card are getting put into many places and swiped at many places as well. The odds of your card getting hacked are at their highest near the holiday season, and while most would assume it would happen during the busy shopping time building up to the holiday, it doesn't mean it can't still happen now. Perhaps some money was taken during that time without you noticing, or perhaps someone is doing it now or planning to in the coming days. It is important to keep an eye on your statements during this time of year and to verify each purchase is one you or your spouse made.
Odd Cash Withdrawals and Transfers in Idaho
A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from my bank asking if I had made any money transfers. They then told me that $250 had been transferred eight times in a matter of two minutes from my bank account, and asked if I knew of the company. It was a place I had never heard of, and clearly my account had been hacked. Luckily, the bank was on top of it and helped me out, and the money was put back in, but moments like these serve as a reminder to check your accounts around the holidays. Had they only done one transfer, it likely wouldn't have been caught, but they got greedy and did eight in two minutes, which is unusual activity for anyone.

Sadly, anytime you use your card on a website or in a store, there is a chance that your account could be hacked. It is important to stick with sites you know and to check your account on a regular basis. While you're out shopping to end the year and start 2026, make sure to keep track of what you buy and not become another victim of someone hacking your bank account in Idaho.
