As we learned recently, yes you can absolutely have a terrible time if you're bitten by a snake here in Idaho. As in, you could possibly perish. Not fun, right?

So, what's an Idahoan to do if they find themself on the receiving end of a rattlesnake bite? Don't worry. We did our own research.

I just got bitten by an Idaho rattlesnake. Should I just expect my imminent death?

First thing's first: If you did actually get bit by a rattlesnake, call 911. You need medial assistance immediately.

That being said, you're actually not in as big of a pickle as you may think: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, less than 1 in 600 rattlesnake bites here in the U.S. are fatal. Phew. That's because (most) rattlesnake bites are treatable with antivenom, if they're treated soon enough, that is.

That means, if you are bitten by a rattlesnake, you're probably going to be okay. If you take it seriously and seek immediate medical attention.

Be safe out there!

While it's true that we have it relatively bad in Idaho as far as dangerous snakes go, we can't even hold a candle to the elongated limbless reptiles in the great state of Texas.

A piece of advice: If you hate snakes. Like, really hate snakes. Stay away from Texas. The entire state is made up of snakes and chewing tobacco. A lot of people don't know that.
