Boise is affectionately known to us locals as 'The City of Trees' and we take that to heart. The City along with its residents are constantly looking for ways to keep Boise green, clean, and environmentally conscious. Take a drive up to the Boise Depot or our beloved Table Rock and look down. You'll see a blanket of trees over, around, and in our neighborhoods and streets.

So many of those trees help blanket our local parks, which is another major focus of the City of Boise.

Since becoming Mayor, Lauren McLean has made it a goal of the City of Boise to increase access to parks, specifically for kids. Her goal? That every kid in Boise can get to a local park in no more than 10-minutes by foot.

While Boise Parks and Recreation has certainly worked to build and develop new parks across town--many long-standing parks have served their purpose for generations. One in particular, has received a recent and significant glow up!

Did the City of Boise pick Seahawk colors intentionally!?

Have you been to Fairview park?

Along with the new play features in the park, it will continue to have its very popular basketball courts. The park's tennis courts will soon be re-surfaced for improvement and seasonal restrooms access will be available as the weather warms up, as well.

Do You Remember When Boise Had An Adorable Amusement Park?

Once upon a time, Boise was home to a small amusement park called the Boise Fun Spot. Some generous contributors in the "Boise & the Treasure Valley History" All of Idaho's History group gave us permission to share their family photos of the park! You can learn more about its history HERE.
