Dodging potholes throughout the Treasure Valley is like a game in some neighborhoods, highways, and parking lots. It's not a fun game to play, and it's the time of the year when those potholes are getting bigger.

AAA states, "Potholes are created when groundwater seeps into the ground underneath the pavement. If the water freezes, it will expand, thus causing the pavement to expand, bend and crack. When the ice melts, gaps or voids are left in the surface under the pavement. As this process is repeated, the pavement continues to weaken."

They also mentioned that in 2021 that 1 in 10 drivers had enough damage that their car needed repair, with the average cost of almost $600. The damage caused by potholes cost drivers $26.5 billion in just one year.

Potholes can blow out sidewalls on tires and bulges in the tires. They can also damage your wheels by bending or even cracking them, and then there's the suspension & steering.
