It’s Drive-In Movie Season in Parma
Spring has officially sprung in the Gem State and with it comes the return of a favorite warm weather tradition!
For so many, their only exposure to drive-in movie theaters is the scene where Sandy abandons Danny for being too forward in Grease. But here in the Gem State, we're lucky to get to experience the nostalgia of loading up the car and watching a movie from the front seat or tailgate! In fact, you've got the opportunity to do so this weekend when Parma Motor-Vu opens for the season! March 22-24, they'll be showing two blockbuster's who've recently topped the box office: Captain Marvel and Mary Poppins Returns!
Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Captain Marvel's up first and will begin showing at 8:20 p.m. Mary Poppins Returns follows at 10:30 p.m.
The family owned drive-in has been operating in Parma since 1953 and still serves popcorn popped in it's original popcorn machine as part of it's snack bar offerings. Unlike the original drive-in theaters, you don't need to stick a speaker in your window to hear the films. Simply pull in and tune your radios to 105.5 to hear the film's audio.
You can find the nostalgic drive-in at 29522 US 95 in Parma. Ticket prices vary:
- Kids 3 and under: Free
- Kids 4-11: $3
- Adults 12-61: $8
- Seniors 62+: $7
This season's movies will also include Dumbo, Avengers: End Game, Aladdin and Toy Story 4. To keep up on when they'll be showing click HERE.
What About Terrace Drive-In Theatre in Caldwell?
We're not able to track down anything about when or if Terrace Drive-In is opening in 2019. Owned and operated by Herold Theatres, the link to the Terrace Drive-In is broken and shows a "Page Not Found" error. Herold Theatres took over the old Northern Lights Cinema Grille at Karcher Mall late in 2018 and rebranded it as "Relic Theatre & Grille." Relic is currently the only theater listed on their website.
