Idahoans have a habit of refrigerating everything!
But why?! Is it our four very distinct seasons that have us rushing our produce from the grocery store fridge to ours at home?
Maybe. From time to time, Idaho's sunnier months can be dry and scorching-hot. But overall, they're nothing like what our neighbors to the south deal with.
Is it our farmer roots?
When you think about it, many natives have roots in the farming and agriculture industry. Farming, gardening, and preserving are second nature for those with a deep Idaho lineage. It would make sense that some folks would apply that mentality in the kitchen.
Then there's the idea of "better safe than sorry." Many people see refrigerators as the ultimate safeguard against spoiled food and wasted money. Really, it’s not actually about whether foods, produce, or condiments need to be kept in the fridge, but the peace of mind it delivers when they do.
