There's a very high probability that I'll plan the route for my long run through Ann Morrison Park so I can see this myself!

This Saturday, August 18 hundreds of cute, stubby little pups will descend on one of Boise's most popular summertime hangouts!  Thanks to social media, the popularity of Corgi dogs has exploded and the mania has finally reached the Treasure Valley.  The first ever Boise Corgi Fest kicks off Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with a pup parade around the park.

Corgi owners are encouraged to stick around and enter their pups in a costume contest ($5 registration fee) or a peanut butter-sweet potato pie eating contest ($10 registration fee.)  The day wraps up with pups racing in the Corgi Derby.  If you've ever watched a Corgi run on those stubby little legs, you know that it's one of the cutest things you'll ever see!

Throughout the day, Corgi fanatics will have a chance to win Corgi themed raffle prizes or a bigger item in the Silent Auction.  You can also browse a variety of vendors targeted at dog owners or pick-up one of the official Corgi Fest t-shirts that features a Corgi enjoying summer in the most Boise way possible - floating the Boise River in a tube!

The festival celebrates Corgis but any leashed dogs are welcome to join in the fun. Proceeds benefit the Idaho Humane Society and Fuzzy Pawz Rescue.

Similar Corgi events have been held all over the country over the past few years, including the ever popular "Oregon Corgi Beach Day" at Cannon Beach.
