As much as I wish it wasn't, winter is all about comfort food. I know we're all trying to stick to those New Year's resolutions and live by the principle that "summer bodies are created in the winter" but wouldn't it just feel good to eat a bowl full of delicious mac and cheese? I mean, we do love our friends at Mad Mac! (Visit their new location at the Boise Spectrum!) Apparently the people of Coeur d'Alene think it's necessary too!

This past Saturday, the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association hosted their first ever Mac and Cheese Festival & Beer Tasting at The Resort Plaza Shops. This 6 hour cheese-filled extravaganza attracted more than 1,500 people.

More than a dozen restaurants set up shop and presented their best mac and cheese creations to the masses with seafood mac, bacon mac, and pork belly mac being some of the fan favorites. Local breweries were also onsite serving up some cold beer for those 21 and over.

Visitors not only tried the different pastas, but voted on the best. This year's prized "Golden Noodle" award went to Taphouse Unchained for their famous mac and cheese balls.

Obviously, Idaho's first Mac and Cheese Fest was a total hit and even reading about it has my mouth watering. I don't know about you but I'm already planning a trip to Coeur d'Alene next January!
