ECCW Class in Idaho Highly Suggested for All Gun Owners
This past weekend I spent almost 8 hours inside a class room, it's been years since I was writing notes and learning so much. It was the Enhanced Concealed Carry Weapons Class, and there are tons of them offered here in the Treasure Valley. Recently, Savannah and I have picked up the hobby of shooting while also wanting to be able to protect ourselves just in case we we're ever in that situation and this class got us 100% prepared.
It began around 9:30 a.m. and started with the basics of firearms including the 4 rules of gun safety that everyone needs to know.
1. Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything that you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot.
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
We learned lots of valuable information about no only our firearms but other weapons we can expect to see or possibly even shoot when at a range. While lots of guns have similar parts, they often don't work or react the same. It's good to have a broad knowledge of these things.
Next we had an Idaho State Detective giving us lots of information about the laws regarding guns, and how we can be the most valuable to law enforcement in those stressful situations. Getting all of this information was the most fun part of the class, other than when we hit the actual shooting range.
We spent quite a few more hours in the class room learning about shooting, aiming, and safety was pounded into our heads by our instructor and law enforcement.
After a long day in the class room we headed to Impact Indoor Shooting to practice what we had just learned and it was so much fun. I was a better shot after having taken the class and learning from these experienced firearms handlers. I would highly suggest anyone just getting into firearms to sign up for a class. In our class we had people learning about guns all the way up to military veterans, this class is for everyone.
