Boise’s Funniest Person Contest Narrows to the Top Ten

The coolest thing about Boise's Funniest Person contest might be the fact that these witty folks are not pros, and the contest rules favor the performers that don't have much experience at all behind a mic.  That makes it kinda like hanging out in the living room, listening to friends tell jokes, and we love it!  Wanna be part of it this weekend?

The top 20 comedians in Boise performed last weekend for a chance to move on to the top 10, and the ones that make us giggle the most this Saturday could move on to the semi-finals on the 22nd.  Boise's Funniest Person will be named on July 29th.

The top 10 finalists are performing this weekend at Liquid Lounge (405 South 8th in Boise), and they're teaming up this week with some of Boise's best working comedians for some tips and pointers as they perfect their craft.  Boise Weekly says many of the contestants come from acting or improv so they're not total novices, but to be in this contest they have to be amateur comedians, having 12 or fewer open mic performances.

Tickets are still available for Saturday's performances at Liquid Lounge, and you can buy tickets as individuals or groups. Date night!  And we'll be watching for more performances from these budding comedians around town this fall.
