Boise Teacher Wins $50,000 for Local Trade School
Ron Martinez a diesel technology teacher at Dennis Technical Education Center in Boise just won second-place in the 2018 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence. The award also comes with $50,000!
A representative from Harbor Freight surprised Ron in his classroom earlier this week as first reported by KIVI. In all there were three first-place prizes given out each winning $100,000. There were a total of fifteen second-place winners each winning $50,000. In some instances the winnings were split between the teacher and their schools program. Due to Idaho's state policy all of the winnings were donated to Ron's school.
Ron has been teaching for twenty years with twelve of those being at The Dennis Center. He has a master technician certification in HD diesel/automotive. And having grown up in Homedale he says his parent instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. We are lucky to have such tremendous teachers like Ron here in the Treasure Valley.
