I feel like every one of my recent articles has led with this sentence, "Well, we all knew this would happen." It's true. COVID-19 has completely changed the way we live our lives. Seriously.

The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic decided to cancel the 2020 season due to safety concerns. The City of Boise still not letting big events happen and that makes a big impact. Let's add college football.

The Boise State Broncos will not be starting on September 5 and will be down to 10 games. Florida State has decided to take the Broncos of their schedule which means we already lost the one time to boosted our strength of schedule. This is also why you now see BSU out of the pre-season rankings that just came out. Can you remember the last time the Broncos missed the top 25 to begin a season?

The Broncos would open the season on September 5 against Georgia Southern at Albertson's Stadium. That date has now been moved to September 25.

Don't get mad at Boise State because this is impacting all Mountain West sports. Boise State Director of Athletics, Curt Apsey spoke on this.

Today's decision by the Mountain West Board of Directors gives us more time to prepare for the fall season while allowing us to continue monitoring the COVID-19 situation - not just in Boise, but across each of our conference campuses

So, what does all of this mean? We know they plan to sell alcohol for the first time this season, we will have 10 games and social distancing at home games is a plan. Honestly, I think we're all learning that we really have to play it by ear. If they don't get the number for COVID-19 cases under control you won't see anything happen. I'd just keep an eye on things. I'll keep you posted on schedule because I'm still looking for updated season dates.
