The weather is getting warmer in Boise, and do you know what that means?

It’s bike bar season, babyyyyyy!

Now, I can’t decide if I absolutely love bike bars or if I detest them with every part of my being.

Honestly, I think it’s a little bit of both.

I also feel like I can discuss this topic pretty unbiasedly, because I’ve encountered basically every facet of bike bars:

  • I’ve been a rowdy participant
  • I’ve been an innocent bystander watching them pedal by
  • I’ve been the bartender working in a downtown establishment, when this crew of hooligans stumbles up to the bar top with only 10 minutes for 15 people to take shots, pay their tabs and run back out the door.

Yikes.

So I think the answer to the question of: do locals love or hate bike bars?

The answer is definitely: both.

When you’re one of the people on a bike bar, it is an absolute riot!

It’s so much fun, and I highly recommend grabbing some of your BFF’s, throwing on ridiculous outfits and trying it out at least once.

However, be aware that pretty much every other person who is not actively participating in the bike bar with you… probably lowkey hates you.

Because while you’re having the time of your life, you are most likely being the most obnoxious group in the entire downtown area.

So buckle up, Boise. Or, in even better terms, “hold my beer.”

Because it is officially bike bar season, and we are bound to see these traveling groups of misfits pedaling by every single day of the week.
