Anti-Bullying Rally Planned in April
Earlier this month we told you about an 11-year-old girl named Sara, that had been bullied and endured messages of hate left for her by other students telling her she was ugly and that she should kill herself. Unfortunately, she tried to take her own life, but luckily, her mother found her in time and got her to the emergency room. Now the family wants to help draw attention to a growing problem in our schools and communities...bullying!
Amy Himmel who is Sara's mother is holding an anti-bullying rally to help raise awareness about just how big this problem is for our society.

This is an excerpt from an email that I received from Amy...in her own words:
"I never thought we would be going through something like this. I kept saying this happens to other people, not us. The truth is it can happen to anyone and it does. I want to do my part to try and ensure no other family or child has to go through what we have experienced this past week."
With that in mind, Amy has sent out an invitation to the entire Treasure Valley to attend a rally on Saturday, April 28th in downtown Boise:
"We firmly believe that our society needs to be reminded of one of the golden rules: Treat others as you would want them to treat you. Sadly, we have looked with wishful eyes & listened with hopeful ears only to find this lacking. Then, as many others, we heard of a precious eleven year old girl who was pushed into trying to end her own life.
An eleven year old, God willing, should never even know about death. Many of us grew up in a world where we thought we had stomped bad things out with D.A.R.E. programs, anti-bullying assemblies & Mr. Yuk stickers. We heard it so often we stopped talking about it. We are failing the children of our future. We are failing ourselves and each other. We assumed as adults everyone would take heed & pass on this knowledge but something isn't working.
So on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at 12 Noon we, all of us are invited to join together in solidarity for the "Treasure Valley Protect Against Bullying" Rally.
Our battle cries will shake the Capitol until people begin helping us heal, helping us protect our futures & helping us stand up against the bullies holding them accountable. We will tolerate no more complacency. This effects all walks of life from all ages. This lives in our homes, ferments in our schools and careers, even haunting our domestic relationships. We implore everyone - parents/guardians/advocates/children/anyone with a heart - join us. This is about the future of humanity. This WILL be life-changing... And this is only the beginning.
