Another Day, Another List That The Treasure Valley Tops
It seems like more and more people are discovering what makes Boise and The Treasure Valley such a special place to live. Thrillist.com is the latest to highlight our home.
The website published a list of "Underappreciated American Cities You Should Totally Move To" and Boise makes the list.
They note that Austin and Portland are over-crowded and that Nashville is too. They note that $9 dollar beers and a depleted dating scene are good reasons to consider a city that might be flying under the radar, at least at this point.
The criteria for this list was "creative, laid-back vibe, a food and craft beer scene, a not-yet-ruined cool factor" and "reasonable prices" for all those things.
The list (in no specific order) is:
- Kansas City, Missouri
- Chattanooga, Tennessee
- Houston, Texas
- Grand Rapids, Michigan
- St. Petersburg, Florida
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Greenville, South Carolina
- San Diego, California
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Gulfport, Mississippi
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Fayetteville/Betonville, Arkansas
- Des Moines, Iowa
- Birmingham, Alabama
- Boise, Idaho
The website classifies our Treasure Valley as "An outdoorsy Portland vibe without Portland prices." I'll take that. Portland definitely has great food, brews, outdoor recreation, and a strong sense of community. We have all that, with less crowding, traffic, and I think it's fair to say, less attitude.
Thrillist notes that we have a strong bike culture, are a walkable city, and highlight our incredible weather and many days of sunshine every year.
