Amazon Sends out Emails to Members that Causes Panic
My Facebook feed was inundated yesterday with friends posting screenshots of an email they had received from Amazon. They were all in a panic because it was definitely not something they should have been getting.
The surprise email read, "Hello Amazon Customer, Someone great recently purchased a gift from your baby registry!”. Those who received the email that were not expecting a baby were, as you can imagine, surprised and a little confused. Especially the men who received the email!
Obviously, the email sent a lot of people into a panic and created a huge fear of a possible scam or phishing situation.
The good news is, Amazon made a statement that would ease a lot of people's minds.
We are notifying affected customers. A technical glitch caused us to inadvertently send a gift alert email earlier today. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. - Amazon Spokesperson
So, if you received the email, it seems there is no need to worry! Whew!
