A 16-year-old girl is in the hospital after being hit by a car while she was walking her dog in Kuna.

The accident happened yesterday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. at West Avalon Street and North School Avenue according to KTVB.

Behind the wheel of the car that hit the young girl was a 70-year-old man. He hit the teen just as she stepped foot into the crosswalk.

The teen's injuries are being called serious and the crash was impactful enough to fling her down the street. The dog she was walking was also injured in the accident. The driver who hit the teen was not seriously injured in the crash.

Investigators point out that one problem with the area is that although there is a stop sign on North School Avenue, there is not a stop sign on Avalon Street.

The crash will continue to be investigated. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with the young girl that she makes a full recovery and please think of everyone who has been affected.
