Unless you come from a lineage of folks who missed the memo on basic manners, there are certain things you just don't do or say in this day and age.

OPINIONS TO KEEP TO YOURSELF

Before we go on, let's make sure we're on the same page. We drummed up a list of behaviors that folks in Idaho (and most places, really) generally view as ignorant, supremely grating, or just downright impolite; they include:

• mistreating wait staff;
• disrespecting someone's faith or political beliefs;
• voicing opinions on someone's weight;
• criticizing someone's income;
• leveling unfounded accusations;
• or diminishing someone based on gender.

Correct us if you think we're wrong, but we think it's best to keep these comments to yourself or shove 'em where potatoes don't grow.

AND THE MOST ANNOYING TRANSPLANT HABIT IS...

JUDGEMENT. Passing premature judgement on us does you no favors. Idaho's culture is a tapestry woven with warmth and authenticity. The overwhelming majority of Idahoans put God, country, and family first closely followed by a love of a hunting and county fairs.

Gem State culture is a blend of laid-back charm and adventurous spirit.  Locals redefine friendliness—your neighbor isn't just a neighbor; they're a friend you haven't met yet.

Whether it's embracing outdoor adventures or savoring the locally sourced eats, Idahoans know how to live life with a genuine smile and a dash of fun. It's this unique mix that makes Idaho culture not just cool but downright fascinating.

So before you judge us for what we're not, try appreciating us for who we are.
