20 Weird Idaho Street Names We’re Amazed are Actually Real

Have you ever driven through an Idaho town or city and noticed streets with funny, bizarre, or even odd-sounding names? We have.

As entertaining as they were, they still left us scratching our heads, wondering who in their right mind thought they were a good idea?

One that comes to mind in Eagle is West Meltwater Lane. Established just a few years ago in a newer community near State and Highway 16, it isn't that it's funny, it just doesn't make sense to us. Meltwater? What, they couldn't come up with a more clever word for ice? By the way, from what we Googled, it's the name of a media company. Lame.

Some street names have a historical significance. 

In Boise, it's common for street names to reflect the city's early history and the names of the people who help found the Gem State. Harrison Boulevard, for example, was named after President Benjamin Harrison, who signed the act that gave Idaho statehood in 1891. 

Odd street names can be novel and fun!

New Blackmore Vale Magazine points out that some cities or developers intentionally give their streets funny names to make their areas more memorable and distinctive. 

For example, you can find Heavenrich Drive in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A street with a name as heavenly as that can draw in developers, spark interest in local events, and boost tourism.

And it gets even sillier with these five ridiculous street names we found around the country: This Ain't It Road in AL, Kitchen-Dick Road in WA, One Fun Place in IA,  I Dream of Jeanie Way in FL, and Linger Longer Road in GA!

While those are definitely memorable, we think Idaho can hold its own when it comes to its collection of one-of-a-kind street names.
