The Bench’s Creepiest Halloween Tradition Returns for 2018
What is about baby dolls that's just SOOO creepy?!
When American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy announced that Season 8 would feature crossover characters from Murder House (season 1) and Coven (season 3,) I made it a mission to binge watch the two seasons so that I wasn't completely lost. The witch academy in Coven had a creepy, mute butler named Spalding who was completely obsessed with having tea parties with creepy baby dolls. Somehow, I think he'd fit in well at this home on the Boise Bench!
In a post on the Boise Bench Dwellers Facebook group, Amy Pence-Brown, one of the master minds behind the infamous "Zombie Babyland" announced that the display will be back for it's third year and should be creepier than ever!
Calling themselves the "thrift store version of Harrison Boulevard," the Pence-Brown kids have been setting up up an abandoned playground that's being over run by zombie baby dolls since 2016. Inspired by their neighbors decorations (or therefore lack of) the kids and their mom, Amy, spend the year rounding up some of the creepiest looking dolls from thrift shops around. From there, they get creative and paint the baby dolls to look like bloodied, zombies and spread them around their backyard play equipment.
It's PG, but the dolls are pretty creepy looking! You can see them for yourself on Halloween Night, Wednesday, October 31 from 6-9 p.m. Admission to the display at 2029 S. Columbus Street is FREE. Look for the Pink Little Free Library, fire pit and jack-o-lanterns.
