Every year in mid-August you can look up to the sky and see shooting stars like you've never seen before.  It's the Perseid Meteor Shower and this year it's supposed to be bigger and brighter than ever.

The best days to see this miraculous display of light is August 11th and 12th.  The best place to see this is not down here in the valley.  There's a couple of reasons for that.  Light pollution always makes it more difficult to look up into the sky and get a clear picture of what's going on but this year there's something else that's hurting our chances of seeing things.  All the wildfires, specifically the huge wildfires in northern California are bringing in smoke and haze.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the smoke here in the Treasure Valley is supposed to get worse by this weekend.  We don't have much of that smoke low to the ground where we can see it but it's more of a higher in the atmosphere smoke that's blocking our view.

Experts tell us to get out of town, up in the mountains somewhere and you should be able to have a nice view.
