There are going to be A LOT of people turned away at airports next year simply because they don't have a GOLD STAR on their driver's license.  Check out your license because if you're missing that gold star in the upper right-hand corner you have until October 1, 2020, to get a new one that'll be accepted at airports here in Idaho.

This law was passed back in 2005.  It's called the Real ID Act and its purpose is to provide provisions for issuing government documents.  Here's the actual definition of what this and why we're doing it according to the United States Homeland Security...

REAL ID is a coordinated effort by the states and the Federal Government to improve the reliability and accuracy of state-issued identification documents, which should inhibit terrorists’ ability to evade detection by using fraudulent identification.

Not all states have fallen in line with the Real ID Act but we have here in Idaho.  Check out the map below to see what's going on in which states across America.
