New ‘Pet-Friendly’ License Plate Would Help Idaho Humane Society

Would you buy a license plate that has a cute little pup and kitty on it? Yes? What if money raised from the sales of those plates went to a great cause? Double yes! That's what could happen if Bill 105 passes in Idaho.

According to KTVB, the new 'vanity plate' "would cost $35 for the first year, and $25 per each subsequent year". Those costs are on top of the registration costs you already pay. So, how could this license plate go to a good cause. Check this out.

The Idaho Transportation Department, according to the KTVB, would get a chunk of each one...$13. But, the rest of the money would go to the Idaho Humane Society's 'pet lovers fund.' That fund is a resource for low-income families to cover "the cost of spaying and neutering their pets." How cool is that?!

According to the Humane Society this program can decrease pet overpopulation in rural areas, "providing financial relief to our municipal and private animal shelters and rescue groups and improve the quality of life for pets in low-income households."

The bill was sent over to the House Transportation and Defense Committee on Tuesday and passed with unanimous support. So, now the bill goes on to the full House this Friday or Monday to, hopefully -this year- pass.
