This silly song has been stuck in my head for over a month!

It was a crisp, cool September morning in McCall when my friends and I toed the start line for the Payette Lake Run 30K.  Just as they were about to start the race, my friend starts singing "Baby Shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo." Damn it, Jill! It was stuck in my head for 10 (if not more) miles of the 18.6 mile race.

What's funny about this song is that it was released on YouTube years ago (2015), but is just now going viral. Two years later, #babysharkchallenge started tending on Twitter.  Clicking the hashtag would bring up thousands of videos of people doing the dance moves in the original PinkFong produced music video. Celebrities like the Today Show's Hoda Kotb, sisters/new moms Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian and most recently the trio of James Cordon, Josh Groban and Sophie Turner have gotten in on the fun!

But where did the Baby Shark craze really begin? According to KTVB, you don't have to look any further than the Boise Bench! That's where 13 year-old Hope Segoine and her family live. Hope IS the voice of Baby Shark!

So how did it come together? The Segoines lived in Korea while Hope's dad was part of a faith based humanitarian mission. That gave her the opportunity to start singing and acting on Korean TV.  When the mission got cut short, the family moved back to the United States and settled in the City of Trees and Hope's kept in touch with PinkFong by recording vocals for silly kids songs (like Baby Shark) here in the Treasure Valley and sending them back to Korea.

Her story is fascinating and if you want to check out the rest of it, click HERE to see rest of Brian Holmes's story about how Hope skyrocketed to Baby Shark Fame!
