Every year, June is Pride Month across the U.S., including right here in Idaho! We're ready to celebrate, but some individuals feel it's "taking away" from other causes.

So, yes, June is Pride Month in the USA. Does that mean that people who aren't part of the LGBTQIA+ community don't matter? Should you feel excluded? Of course not! Absolutely not.

Pride Month is about celebrating our gay, lesbian, trans, intersex and queer friends and neighbors being able to openly celebrate who they love. That's it. It's pretty simple, and it's pretty great.

But did you know June is also:

  • PTSD Awareness Month
  • Men's Health Month
  • National Portuguese Heritage Month
  • National Caribbean-American Heritage Month

And, you can bet that whatever group you belong to or care about also has a month dedicated to them. So don't worry so much!

Except when people ask for a "White history month." There isn't one, and the reasons why have been covered over and over and over again.
