Boise State, Clemson in Talks of Non-Conference Matchup
With Boise State football season coming up quick, fans of Boise State athletics are going to be able to dive back into the "crowned jewel" of the university's athletic teams. Since the early 2000's, the football team has stood out as a success story that exceeded anyone's expectations.
In recent years, however, the shine has worn off a little.
A once dominant Boise State football program has grown used to losing "a few" games each season--and while many programs, even some of the largest in the nation, would love to be able to have a 3 or 4 loss season consistently, its a different game for Boise State who relies on not losing to be able to gain any traction nationally.
Enter Boise State's basketball program who has always been underestimated. Fans have been calling for new coaching for years and the arena was rarely packed.
Oh ye of little faith--with time, resources, and some faith, Leon Rice, formerly of basketball powerhouse Gonzaga University, as taken this program to the big dance two seasons in a row and given the Mountain West a run for their money.
The last team to beat National Runner Up, San Diego State, before their deep run? Boise State. The nation has noticed.
