Boise is often touted as one of the safest places to live anywhere in America. Whether it be by national news outlets, extensive research findings, or simply by word of mouth from locals that know and love the Treasure Valley.

An early morning shooting in Boise has some asking: are we watching Boise 'change' right before our eyes?

It's fair to say that most would agree, despite growth, Boise remains very safe. News breaking of a drive by shooting that has left one woman dead certainly falls under an umbrella of headlines we just don't see in our town.

The crime is still very much under investigation

In a release from the Boise Police Department, only a few details were given on the situation that unfolded  in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30th:

Just before 6 a.m. Boise Police and Boise Fire responded to a report of a shooting victim at a residence on the 3900 block of W. Clement Road. Upon arrival officers located an adult female gunshot victim on the front porch of the home. There were a large number of occupants inside of the home when officers arrived and the suspect’s identity and location were unknown. Officers secured the area, evacuated the home, cleared each room, and contacted each witness on scene. Boise Fire crews and Ada County Paramedics performed life saving measures on the victim, but she sadly died from her injuries on scene. There were no other reported injuries.

Authorities believe that a party was taking place at the time of the shooting and say that a 'sedan style vehicle' drove by, firing multiple shots at the residence.

The house was being used as a short term vacation rental and police believe that there may be people who have more insight into what was going on at the home before or during the time of the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Anyone with any possible information is encouraged to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
