Mammograms are crucial for women's health as they are a frontline defense against breast cancer, the second most common cancer globally. These low-dose X-ray screenings can detect breast abnormalities before they become palpable, enabling early intervention when treatment is most effective. Regular mammograms for women 40 and above help identify tumors early, potentially saving lives.

They are vital in monitoring breast health, detecting malignancies, and tracking changes over time. Additionally, mammograms aid in reducing mortality rates by enabling timely treatment, promoting awareness, and offering peace of mind through negative results. These screenings empower women to take proactive control of their well-being and promote breast health awareness.

In a recent study shared by HelpAdvisor, a significant percentage of women aren't getting mammograms when they should be in Idaho. Idaho is one of the worst states in the country when it comes to the percentage of women aged 50-74 who last had a mammogram in two years.

Here in the Treasure Valley, we are lucky enough to have Stampede For The Cure, which raises funds to provide free mammograms by their healthcare partners and has raised over $1 million and raised awareness of how important it is for women to get regular mammograms. If you or someone you know needs help getting a mammogram, please get in touch with Stampede For The Cure.

Idaho has garnered an alarming statistic, ranking fourth highest among U.S. states for women aged 50-74 failing to undergo regular mammograms. This trend signifies a significant gap in breast cancer screening and early detection, which is crucial for women's health.

We examined those dimensions using 25 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for women.
We then determined each state and the District’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank-order the states."
