Earlier today, at 1:53 a.m., Deputies from the Canyon County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to respond to a distress call concerning a person with suicidal intentions at a residence situated to the west of Parma city within the county's jurisdiction.

Around 3:34 a.m., patrol units successfully located a 19-year-old individual near the Boise River, the same person who was the subject of the initial emergency call. The individual attempted to flee in a vehicle, prompting a pursuit led by officers from CCSO, Wilder, and Parma police. This pursuit ultimately resulted in an officer-involved shooting when the vehicle pursuit came to an end. The individual was subsequently transported to a Boise hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) got the green light, and The Caldwell Police Department is taking charge of this investigation. The officer involved in the shooting is currently on paid administrative leave per department policy and CITF protocol.

As of now, the identity of the suspect is being kept under wraps, and the Caldwell Police Department will disclose any additional information when it's deemed appropriate.
