‘Idahoans’ To ‘Nutmeggers': What Residents Are Called In Every State
I don't know about you, but I've never been big on being called an "Idahoan." It just doesn't roll off the tongue very nicely. I admit, it's better than "Idahoer" or "Idahoian" but I simply don't like it.
Instead, I'll find myself saying things like, "I'm from Idaho" or "resident of Idaho." I'll use as many extra words as it takes to avoid saying. "Idahoan."
This isn't a problem unique to residents of Idaho, either. Across the country, people from all states have unique names for themselves. Sometimes, it's catchy. Sometimes, it's a mouthful. Other times, it's down right confusing.
Here is a list of every state in the U.S. with every nickname their residents go by. After the list, I'll pitch my ideas for new names to use for people from Idaho instead of "Idahoans." Let's tour the country.
What Do You Call A Person From...

Some very unique names in there. I had never heard of Nutmeggers before. Same with Bay Staters. Have I been living under a rock?
After some reflection, and our little tour of the country, I think I have landed on the perfect new nickname to call people from Idaho.
Henceforth, I suggest we go by Idahoosiers. I think it goes nicely for our friends in Indiana, why not steal some of their swag? It's got a great ring to it, and it's not "Idahoans."
That not your thing? How about something fun like "Idiots" but, like, pronounced like Idaho? No? Okay, let's stick with Idahoosiers, I like that one. Forget I even suggested "Idiots." Unless you like it? No? Okay, it's dropped.
