Idaho Mail Carriers Wouldn’t Be Doing This If We Had Our Lives Together
Bad dog parents are the worst. You know it. We know it. But neither of know it as well as Idaho mail carriers do. After years of dodging rogue dogs along their daily mail routes, postal workers across the country have banned together in the fight against on-the-job-dog-bites.
Can you blame them?
Before you torch our inbox, you should know this isn't a sweeping generalization. We're pet parents, too. We'd be lying if we said our dogs haven't pulled a Houdini on us. They have, but never to the point where our mail carrier feared for their @$$e$ so much that they lined parcels at our house like Aroldis Chapman pitching a 105.1 mph as a closer.
Unfortunately, the opposite's been true for several neighbors we've had over the years. Eagle, Star, Boise—the city's irrelevant. The laissez-faire pet parent mentality knows no bounds.
So, mail carriers came up with a system that reminds and warns them when they approach homes with aggressive dogs. How they pulled it off is genius and kind of adorable.
Under the USPS Paw Program, mail carriers are permitted to put color-coded paw print stickers on the home's mailbox. Yellow signals there's a dog at the upcoming house and orange tells them the pooch is aggressive. It's a finely honed method backed by Idaho lawmakers.
