Idaho Just Named One of 2023’s Best States to Retire

Idaho is a great state to retire. Although some places in the state are better for retirement than others. We will get to that in a bit. First let's check out how the state ranks against other states. WalletHub says, "To determine the best states to retire, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 47 key indicators of retirement-friendliness. Our analysis examines affordability, health-related factors and overall quality of life."

The great Gem state ranked in the top 10 of best states in the country to retire. Idaho got the 9th spot on the list. See the top 10 list below, followed by what towns and cities are the best to retire in the state of Idaho.

Where can retirees enjoy the most out of their retirement time here in the gem state? Stacker analyzed data and rankings to compile a list of the best places to retire in Idaho.

One of the main sources of data was from Niche, who ranks places to retire based on multiple factors including "cost of living, health care, recreation, and weather." Specifically looking at things that interest your typical retiree including easy access to indoor and outdoor recreation, like walking trails and water access. They also look at proximity to museums and theaters. Cost of living and low crime rates make a difference, as well.
