Free Breakfast, Lunch, & Supper Will Be Served to Boise Students
School is back in session for Boise School District. With the start of school also comes a variety of different things for students to stress about but thankfully, going hungry isn't one of those things.
The Boise School Distract announced last week free meals will be provided for all students regardless of eligibility status; this includes breakfast, lunch, AND supper. Children are not required to submit meal applications in order to receive free meals. Breakfast and lunch will be served at all Boise schools. After school suppers and/or snacks will be provided in cooperation with Boise Parks & Recreation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County for after-school programs at Garfield, Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Whittier, and William Howard Taft elementary schools, as well as South and Hillside junior high schools.
The Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program will also be available again this school year at the following schools: Garfield, Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Koelsch, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Whittier, and William Howard Taft elementary schools.
According to Boise School District, no meal application is necessary to receive free meals, however, applications are still available upon request. To complete a paper meal application, contact your school Food Service Manager or the Food & Nutrition Services office at foodandnutrition@boiseschools.org.
It is also noted that if your child is a member of a household receiving assistance under food stamps-SNAP, Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho-TAFI, Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations-FDPIR, migrant, or foster programs, or is certified by the proper liaison to be a homeless or runaway child they automatically qualify through Direct Certification and do not need to complete a meal application.
