The free ride is over. Much like the days of using your parent's Netflix account, the days of sneaking into Costco for a cheap hot dog are coming to an end.

I didn't realize that it had become such a problem. Still, enough non-members are walking into Costco that they have to make a significant change. According to their website you will soon need to scan your membership card to enter the building. If you don't have a membership, you will be turned away.

Last month, we told you that Costco also planned to increase membership costs by $5 and $10 beginning September 1. The membership scanning is meant to keep Costco exclusive, and many members are happy to ensure that the checkout process is better without non-members in the store.

If you still want to go to Costco but don't want to pay the membership fees, it's still possible to tag along with a friend who has a membership. Each member is allowed to bring two guests.

The biggest problem with the membership card scanner is that it could potentially create lines at the front of the store, in front of the main entrance. However, an attendant will still be at the front to help with any questions and to make sure that everyone is scanning their cards.

It is unknown when the actual changes will occur, but we know it will start soon. What do you think of Costco's new store entrance policy?
