Chip Sealing in Nampa Not Ending Until August
This should comes as no surprise for anyone in the Treasure Valley as Nampa is now beginning the process of crack sealing and chip sealing to maintain it's streets. Crack sealing is the most cost effective pavement maintenance technique.
This method will prevent water from entering the road base and extends pavement life by 3-5 years according to the City of Nampa. A chip seal is one fourth to one fifth the cost of a conventional asphalt overlay.
Those sealing projects began yesterday and will continue until the beginning of August. The City of Nampa is reminding all drivers that in the areas that work crews are working the speed limit is 20 mph.
These sealing projects are expected to last until the beginning of August, and the city will continue to make updates on the progress through their website here.
