Today, college degrees are the gatekeepers to some of the best positions in the Boise job market. And we get it. Several jobs require a bachelor’s degree and beyond. Teachers, medical service managers, and social workers are prime examples.
Outside of those fields and the like, however, that wasn't always the case.
American Public Media reports the value of a college degree has increased exponentially since the 1970s. Back in the era of bell-bottoms and disco, as little as 26% of middle-class employees had college degrees; a stark contrast by today's numbers. As of 2018, Georgetown University reports "nearly 60 percent of all jobs in the U.S. economy require higher education."
Luckily for you, our recent deep-dive on a Boise job board produced a list of 10 part-time, degree-free jobs that start at $17 an hour. These positions largely lean on your talents and provide any on-the-job training you might need. Happy job-hunting! You got this!
