From Thin Crust to Deep Dish, We Found the 5 Best Styles of Pizza in Boise
Best Thin Crust Pizza: Tony's Pizzeria Teatro
If you ask us, the best thin crust pizza has a bit of crunch and enough pliability to to fold in half. That's exactly what you get at this charming small restaurant next to the Egyptian Theater. Ranked number one on Boise Yelp, Tony's thin crust is so good and so fresh, it reminds of the incredible pizza we had on a trip to Italia herself. And we're not the only ones who think so!
These pies were so good! Nice and thin, with crispy crust. The ingredients as well were super fresh and delicious. Our favorite was named 'Favorite" this was more of a tomato base pizza not a lot of cheese which is pretty rare super delicious.
Best Chicago-Style Pizza: Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom
Our teammate from Chicago's Southside swears Old Chicago is the closest thing you'll get to authentic Chicago-style pizza in Boise! When it comes to nailing the Windy City's brand of pizza, our pizza-obsessed says it's all about the sweetness of the sauce, the thickness of the cheese, and the love they put into seasoning the crust.
The Chicago-7 is recommended from me as it's [got] so many flavors just slamming on your tongue.
Best Hawaiian-Style Pizza: Flying Pie Pizzeria
Hawaiian-style pizza might be the most divisive of all chees-based pies. Described by Food & Wine Magazine as "unabashedly pro-pineapple pizza," Chef Chris Keyser agrees "Hawaiian pizza is divisive, and most Italians think it's ridiculous," but the flavor profiles of mozzarella cheese and tart pineapple pair perfectly with one another.
Established in 1978, Flying Pie Pizzeria remains one of Boise's most beloved pizzerias today. When it comes to pineapple pizza, they know exactly what they're doing. Never mushy and always bursting with flavor, Flying Pie is the gold standard in fruit-topped pizzas.
Best Vegan Pizza: Americana Pizza
We can't leave our vegan friends out of the loop on this one! The best, most non-vegan-tasting pizza we've ever had in Boise comes from Americana Pizza.
Where most vegan pizzas are an oblique reference to the cheesy deliciousness we know and love, Americana's vegan pies are the real, no-animal-biproduct-deal. If pizza FOMO has you grappling with the decision to go vegan, Americana makes the choice a whole lot easier.
The pizza here was so good! I really enjoyed the vegan pepperoni and vegan chorizo. Also really appreciated the non dairy cheese. The dough was a perfect pizza texture. Lots of topping options (but would suggest them adding banana peppers as an option). 10/10 would recommend.
Best Deep Dish Pizza: Spitfire Pizza
Last but not least, we have Spitfire Pizza bringing their A-game to the Detroit-style pizza scene. Rated 4.4 star across 247 reviews, Spitfire's owner says his pizzeria is "the only place in Boise for Detroit-style pizza!"
Unfamiliar with this style? Detroit's signature pie is topped with layers of savory Wisconsin brick cheese, and it's known for its airy dough and square shape.
The Detroiter pizza is absolutely outstanding. It's one of Boise's best kept secrets, and it's honestly tragic how few people know about it. More people need to go here and experience it. [...] But seriously, just go and get the Detroiter [...] and then write a review here so I can see if you love it too!
