Idaho is a big fan of beer and for good reason. We are home to some incredible breweries. Tomorrow is a perfect day to enjoy a cold one for National Beer Day. National today says, "Every April 7 is National Beer Day, a time where we can raise a toast to the oldest and most venerable of all beverages. People have been making beer for over 5,000 years; in fact, the oldest recorded recipe we know of is for beer."

While there are beers - anything over 16% alcohol by volume - that is prohibited in the gem state (see list of banned beers below) we don't let that slow our beer loving side down. Enjoy some local craft beers from the Treasure Valley and Boise area at these great breweries.

Boise is proving to be a hot spot for local breweries, and we couldn't be more excited.

According to Idaho law: “Beer containing not more than sixteen percent (16%) of alcohol by volume may be manufactured, imported, and/or sold and distributed in and into this state or possessed therein in the manner and under the conditions prescribed in this act and not otherwise.”

These are the five delicious beers with over 16% alcohol by volume... it's crazy to think there's a beer with close to 30%!
