Ariana Grande Shares Details About Her Toxic Relationship With Mac Miller
Mac Miller and Ariana Grande called it quits on their relationship earlier this month, and even though the pop singer expressed that the two were still close and "best friends," she's revealed some grim details about their relationship.
Earlier this week, a social media user commented on the former couple's breakup, correlating the "Hi" rapper's recent DUI arrest to their split. The user claimed that Grande dumped Miller for "another dude," despite the Pittsburgh native making his The Divine Feminine album that fans once believed was about the singer. He even called the rumored events as "the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood."
Although many fans came to Ariana's defense, the singer took things into her own hands today (May 23) and wrote a lengthy message back to the user, detailing toxic aspects of their relationship that led to their breakup, including Miller's sobriety battle. She even says that parts of the relationship were "hard" and "scary" while it was happening, but continues to pray for him and wish him well.
"How absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which btw isn't the case (just Cinderella is ab me)," she writes. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course), but shaming/blaming women for a man's inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem. I didn't share how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well."
After her response began going viral, the user issued an apology statement for his comments, making sure to iterate that he was not aware of the details of their relationship.
"Hey, I'm really sorry this is something you took the time to read and that upset you enough to make such a thoughtful reply," he starts. "First and foremost, I know nothing about your relationship and the heartache you both feel. Second, I in no way think that you are the cause of Mac's shortcomings. We all have our demons to keep at bay and I truly worry about his well being just as a fan, so I am sorry to minimize any of that or make it seem like a break up is a justifiable cause to go deep end. Finally, I had no idea this would go viral and get treated like a story on tmz. It truly doesn't go as deep as you're implying and I truly hope you and Mac get back to living your best lives as soon as possible. I'm very sorry I hurt you and I'm sorry you feel my tweet stigmatizes women for ending a toxic relationship that wasn't my intention at all. I think every woman is equal to a man and has the same exact right to pursue their happiness to the fullest despite the backlash they might receive, including you."
Grande replied back once again by thanking the user and sent him some words of positivity.
"Thank you for hearing me, i appreciate your response v much," she writes. "Sending u love."
If you recall, Ariana and Mac broke up earlier this month after nearly two years of dating. The two first showed public affection for one another in the female star's "The Way" music video from 2013, but they were not together at that time. Miller was heavily by Ariana's side during the tragic Manchester bombing that took place at her concert in the U.K. last year. They have also collaborated on their "My Favorite Part" duet record in 2016.
