From Boise to Hollywood: the evolution of Idaho’s Aaron Paul in 60 pics
Aaron Paul: Idaho's Brightest Star
ICYMI, Aaron Paul is a beloved American actor known for his critically-acclaimed roles in Breaking Bad, The Path, and Westworld. What many people don't know, however, is that Paul was born and raised here in the Gem State.
Admittedly, us Idahoans have a special affinity for Paul. It's pretty normal to hear us boasting about his achievements and celebrating his success as one of our own. But why do Idahoans love Aaron Paul so much? It's a question we get asked a lot, and one we're always happy to answer.
What was Aaron Paul's upbringing like?
In short, normal and relatable. Born a month premature, baby Aaron was delivered in his parents' bathroom and was raised in Emmett, Idaho, a small rural town with a population of just over 6,000. He lived with his parents and four siblings in a quiet farming town where life was simpler, safer, and close-knit.
Aaron's described his childhood as "heaven," saying that he learned the value of hard work and honesty from his parents. His father was a retired Christian Baptist minister, and his mother has developed a thriving career in local advertising.
Like many famous entertainers, Aaron got his start in church where he participated in numerous plays and events. Long before his big break, he held several different jobs to include delivering pizza for Pizza Hut and working odds-and-ends gigs for his mom's ad company.
Was Aaron Paul in a Corn Pops commercial?
You betcha! It was 1999 when Corn Pops found itself at a crucial crossroads. According to the New York Times, cereal consumption had reached its zenith in the mid-'90s, ushering in a period of heightened competition among major players in the cereal market.
To hone in on the 90% of American households that started their kids' mornings with a cold bowl of cereal, Kellogg's came up with the catchy tagline, "I gotta have my Pops!" The slogan was a hit, but Kellogg's needed the right actor to connect with American teens.
Aaron, an unknown blue-eyed twenty-something, landed the role and kick-started his acting career. Take a look!
