Were you shopping at The Village on Saturday afternoon and suddenly found yourself toe to toe with Captain America? Or maybe you ended up in line at Walmart behind a Storm Trooper. What kind of weird multiverse did you get sucked into?

While multiverse theories are certainly all the rage right now, you didn't get sucked into one! There was a cosplay gathering nearby at Kleiner Park and a ton of costumed characters from all sorts of fandoms showed up.

If you're not familiar with the concept of cosplay, it's simply the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, series or video game...you know, sometime other than Halloween. It's a big part of the Comic Con scene, but due to the pandemic there hasn't been many opportunities for the cosplay community to show off the costumes they've been working on.

Needless to say, they were eager to dress-up and connect with each other again and it made for some pretty epic photo-ops!

We didn't know that Boise had a cosplay community of this size, so we'd love to see another event like this happen soon! Perhaps, someone will take a page out of the book of Salt Lake City's cosplay community. They meet-up one Saturday a month at a bar for Cosplay night where people dress up for karaoke and a costume contest. The $5 cover gets donated back to a local charity or cause. There's almost always a photographer on hand to catch awesome shots of the costumes. We've got our hand full here at the station, but if someone took the time to organize that in Boise we'd totally be there every month!
