We really do learn something new everyday on the Mike & Kate in the Morning show! I can now say that I know what Tomato Aspic is. I can also say that I will never ever eat it. A listener called to say that she hates having to eat her grandma's tomato aspic with raw shrimp at Thanksgiving. Mike and I had never heard of this. Is it a ketchup mold? Who would make that? Why? And who would ever want to eat that?! That sounds disgusting! According to Wikipedia the definition of aspic is: "Aspic is a dish in which ingredients are set into a gelatin made from a meat stock or consommé. Non-savory dishes, often made with commercial gelatin mixes without stock or consommé, are usually called gelatin salads. When cooled, stock that is made from meat congeals because of the natural gelatin found in the meat." Yum, Yum!!

If you would like to punish your family and friends on Thanksgiving then we recommend you make this "non-savory" dish. Kraft Foods has a recipe that should be easy to follow. Let us know Friday morning how this appetizing dish went over. Was everyone thankful you made them eat a mold made of cold meat and tomato juice?
