This Makes Me Nervous

I just looked at the RSVP # for the Women Ignite Idaho Conference this weekend and the nerves started racing even a little faster. With such an amazing line up, there is a lot of pressure as a newbie to not let you down. Don't worry though. I've got a plan!!

What is my plan to calm my nerves and make sure they you get every pennies worth out of my session on Saturday? You ready? I am going to be up front and honest with you...I'm nervous! I figure if you know that going into this, then you cut me some slack when I am on the stage sweating like Mike in front of a piece of bacon.

In all seriousness though, I am nervous but my excitement out ranks any nerves. I feel so honored to be on the list of speakers at such an amazing event. When they asked me to speak, my topic immediately came to mind: Perception vs. Reality and how to make it work for you.

I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams with my career. And with this career comes the fact that people will develop a perception of me that sometimes might not be the truth. Instead of banging my head against a wall trying to convince each and every person that I have a wacky sense of humor that can be misleading, I have used that perception for good and not evil.

I know I am not the only woman who deals with being perceived a certain way at work and then the reality of this situation is different. I have used the "perception of Kate McGwire" to build a career that I love in a city that I love. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing made up about Mike & Kate in the Morning. It's 100% me and my beliefs. But there is so much more to me and on Saturday I plan on sharing some of that "reality" with you. Giving you a glimpse into the world that I don't share on Mix 106. And in doing that, I hope to show you that perception vs reality doesn't have to be a struggle. You can make both work for you!

I really hope you come to the Women Ignite Idaho Conference this weekend! This event really hits home with me. I am so passionate about showing women that they can have anything their hearts desire. This weekend will show you that! I promise. Plus you get lunch!! :)
