Veterans

Next Saturday, December 17th, volunteers will get together to lay wreaths on the graves of veterans across the country, and a Boise cemetery will be part of it. Here's how you can volunteer.

If my dad gets a free hour, we can usually find him digging around on Ancestry.com. He loves it, and he's made some interesting discoveries along the way. Pop is Navy Veteran that served in Vietnam, and he's learned that the other veterans in our family served in the Civil and Revolutionary Wars.  I bet you've got these veterans in your family too.

Veteran's Day is next week, and stores and restaurants are getting ready to show their appreciation.  More will be added we're sure, but for now let me tell you about one restaurant that will help you snag the veteran in your life a free burrito, bowl, or taco.

To the families of those who lost someone dear in service to our nation, I want to share a heartfelt thank you.  I have not served and I'm grateful that your loved one did.

Each year, the Eagle Field of Honor pays tribute to military veterans with a patriotic display of 600 U.S. flags at Merrill Park. It also gathers donations for veterans programs. This year, the proceeds will go to Brave Hearts Idaho, a non-profit organization that helps Idaho veterans and their families when they are facing financial crisis...

Another proud moment for The Treasure Valley.  Two men who were willing to sacrifice everything for America are finally honored.

Today Mike from MIX106 was at a live event at Skyline Home Loans. There was food, music, beverages as well as face painting and bounce houses for kids! Skyline Home Loans held a push-up competition to raise money for our veterans.

We'll see lots of American flags on display this Memorial Day Weekend, and there are right ways and wrong ways to do it. Do you know the difference?

Tuesday, November 11th is Veteran's Day, and chances are there is someone in your life you celebrate and honor because they've served in the military in some capacity.

If you listen to our show, you know there are a few things that get me choked up...and one of the biggies is anything that is patriotic.  Because of the fact that I now have two boys that are in the military, videos like this especially get to me.
