The conversation of how best to help our homeless population get back on their feet has had many different ideas.  One that's moving forward in a new development in Boise.

This new concept, New Path Community Housing, which officials say will be a development built for the chronically homeless.

It will be located at the former site of the Twin Dragon Chinese restaurant, and groundbreaking was held Wednesday to officially start the project.

When completed it will provide 40 one-bedroom apartments that will be provided to the chronically homeless population in Boise.  It will also feature medical, mental health, and substance abuse treatment services, and case management services all at the same location.

This concept is a combined effort of a number of agencies including the Idaho Housing and Finance Association, Ada County, City of Boise, and Saint Alphonsus, St. Luke's Health System, United Way of the Treasure Valley, and private foundations as well.

Construction should be completed in about one year.
