Look Up In the Air, It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Manhole Cover

This is crazy!  Can you believe the power and force behind a bunch of sewer gas?

An underground electrical issue in Buffalo, New York caused a lot of pressure to build up in the cities sewage system on Sunday.  That pressure kept building and building until something had to give and luckily for us it was all caught on video.

A reporter for NBC affiliate WGRZ was interviewing a witness about the electrical fire when the explosion there was a huge explosion in the background that took everyone by surprise.

The explosion launched the manhole cover about a hundred feet into the air.  While in the video you can clearly see someone standing close to where the cover landed, luckily it didn’t hit anyone when it came down and no one was hurt.

Keep in mind, manhole covers usually weighs over one hundred pounds, so you can imagine the force behind this explosion to get the manhole cover that far in the air.
