Help Wish Boise’s Odie Happy Birthday as He Battles Cancer

If I know anything about living in this community it's how incredible the love is. You stand up without a blink of an eye when someone needs you and especially when it involves our kids.

I can also relate firsthand with our own son spending our fair share of time living at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. The outpour of love was something you can't put a price on. Well, I know a 2-year-old that can use some of that right now.

This one hits home just a little closer as this little guy is part of my wife's family. His name is Odin and he'll be turning 3 years old at the end of the month. You think of the things that go into planning that little party. You might wonder who to invite, what's the theme going to be, and what's that one gift to light up their life. Instead, the only thing in your mind is, "will my baby be okay?"  Little Odin has cancer.

You don't have to know this little angel for your heart to drop when I said the word, cancer. After being diagnosed with Stage 3 Nephroblastoma back in November and having major surgery to remove the tumor, a kidney, and lymph nodes, Odie has been fighting daily through chemotherapy (and a positive Covid-19 diagnosis a few weeks back) against his cancer.

Odie spends about 90% of his time in the hospital and I can't imagine what they must be going through right now. So, Odie's mom is asking for some help to shine a bright spot as he battles through childhood cancer.

Since this little superhero can’t celebrate a birthday like he’d like to this year, his parents Brittany and Michael are asking you to participate if you’d like in sending letters, postcards, or ‘Happy Birthday’ messages to their little fighter for his upcoming 3rd Birthday!

Childhood cancer is something no child or parent should ever have to go through. I think that’s something we can all agree on. Let’s send Odie some love and positive Birthday thoughts! This little guy deserves it!
